I want to start by giving a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Youth Largefowl Show. This event was made possible thanks to our incredible sponsors, exhibitors, clerks, and judges. We had an impressive turnout this year with over 2,523 birds representing 44 states and seven countries, showcasing an amazing variety of poultry. It’s been a true pleasure to see the virtual poultry show grow into something remarkable over the past few years. This year’s youth largefowl show alone featured 238 birds from 58 exhibitors, and it was a joy to see such enthusiastic participation.
For those of you new to our virtual poultry show, it’s an exciting event that brings together poultry enthusiasts from all over the world to celebrate their birds. Exhibitors submit photos of their top chickens, waterfowl, and quail from the past year, and our licensed APA, ABA, and ACBA judges evaluate them, providing placements and feedback based on established standards. The youth shows, in particular, offer a fantastic opportunity for young participants to get a taste of the showring experience. We also choose one qualified youth to judge each category, giving them a chance to develop their skills and, we hope, continue on to APA clerking and judging in the future. Those who enter birds in the youth shows can also submit the same photos in the open shows for more placements and additional awards, so you might see some familiar names across the board.
