Tibetans: TI84 and TUX10
This are the last two birds to be introduced to the bracket--You should be able to fill in the rest of the days with your guesses now. You can submit them at any time before 5 pm tomorrow evening (March 17th, 2024) for a chance to win $10.
Thank you Rebecca for letting me have some fun with the names on these two! Tibetans are very similar to Rosetta in that they aren't feather sexable and come from mutations with Eumelanin pigment (the same thing that makes people's skin color lighter and darker). TUX10 actually has a second mutation: one copy (heterozyous) of Dotted White (also called Tuxedo in this form), on top of the Tibetan color. This is what gives it the white breast and wings. Consider it like a different variety of the normal color: like seeing a Rhode Island White instead of Rhode Island Red. You can read more about color genetics for quail on the "genetics" page. It will also be expanded this summer to include chickens, mice, cattle, pigs, and other species so keep an eye out if this is something that interests you.
In this case, there is no standard for tuxedo or white winged pied markings, so the color itself should not be considered over type. Again, focus on capacity for both egg and meat production first and foremost, before dialing in on smaller flaws.
