Largefowl Anconas: ACF52 and ACM57
The last largefowl pairing! Anconas come from Ancona, Italy, and are one of the less common Mediterranean breeds shown due to the challenge of breeding the mottled color. They have the advantage of being recognized in both rose comb and single comb and are bred for high egg production--on par with leghorns. There is some debate over whether the Ancona is actually a variety of leghorn, though the APA recognizes it as a separate breed. The only differences in the standard, aside from color, is the earlobe shape in the males and different (but very similar) adjectives for the length of back. Again, focus is on egg production for this breed, and while color is a very important characteristic, type should take precedence.
