Breanna's Comments:
I very much favored the Ancona for this one over the Orp. Nothing too much against the Orpington, but he looks pretty young yet and not filled out enough. Conditioning is decent, and he doesn't have too much fluff. But the breast just isn't there. He's got the width to the back and the breast, and very much the capacity for it, just not the depth. Given another 6 months to fatten up and I think I would have placed him higher.
The Ancona is more mature, she's got that type, and she's got good spangling. A touch heavy on the white but that comes with age. I like her wide stance, which comes from wide pubic bones and a good laying build, and the lighter color on the legs suggests she's done her part there too. I'm not a fan of her comb as much, it could be a bit bigger, but it does have that characteristic flop required for most Mediterranean breeds. Conditioning could also be a bit better, but this is an older hen and just needs a quick smooth down to reknit some feathers. Nothing of much concern.
For that reason, I'd place the Ancona over the Orp.

"I would pick the ancona over the orpington...he needs work on his color..depth of chest..body shape...she needs better mottling..cleaner white tips...but has a good shape..a little out of condition especially in the tail area...but she is closer to her standard than the male is."
